My conversation on the Hua Hin Today Podcast
I recently joined the Hua Hin Today Podcast for their second episode, which was a great chance to talk about life in Hua Hin and how the property market has evolved over the past two decades.
For anyone who doesn’t know my story, I first arrived in Thailand more than 21 years ago. It started with what was meant to be a quick family visit and somehow turned into being paid to live in a beachfront mansion. That unusual experience was the beginning of my real estate career and the reason I’ve spent most of my life in Hua Hin.
How life in Hua Hin has changed over 20 years
During the podcast, we talked about how much the city has changed. When I first moved here, Hua Hin was still very much a quiet seaside town. Back then, most buyers were retirees looking for a calm place to settle down.
Today, the city attracts a much wider mix of people: pre-retirees, families, long-term expats and remote workers who want good schools, reliable infrastructure and a comfortable pace of life. That’s why I often describe Hua Hin as a living city. It isn’t just a holiday spot; it’s a place where communities grow, children go to school, and people build their long-term home.
We also touched on how the local property market has developed and the types of homes people are looking for now. Over the years, I’ve seen developers adapt to new demands, whether it’s more practical layouts, better energy efficiency or homes designed for people who spend most of the year here.
